Monday 8th July - walk *** – Around Felixstowe including a picnic at
The Manor – sunny periods.
Just for a change, no rain today, also the wind has dropped and we had a
sunny morning so it was back to my exercises in the garden. Then I packed a
picnic and as we had to drop off something to drop off at the post office
we decided to head down to Felixstowe prom, turn right to have lunch at The
Manor end:) With an improvement in weather although it had clouded over but
it was still t-shirt weather it was fairly busy especially with a few large
groups of kids of school day out by the sea, the ice cream kiosk was
particularly busy. We walked past two of Felixstowe white elephants, the
new beach hut village which are struggling to sell the expensive huts, many
with no sea view, in fact we haven’t seen anyone there yet and then the
ferris wheel back for its second season but it never seems to be open! We
found a nice quiet spot just before the end of the prom for a yummy lunch
of egg sandwiches again. We the light onshore breeze and being high water
the sea was choppy but there were a few yachts out to sea and a fishing
boats followed by gulls passed! After a relaxing lunch we continued to the
end of the prom then took the path behid the beach huts, still a mass of
wild flowers, many going to seed which the birds seemed to love as there
was loads of sparrows and gold finches flitting about!
